Alex Boze gets Player of the Year Honors

Alex Boze, the hard-hitting catcher of Belleville East in southern Illinois, is named player of the year by the local media. A third-year starter, Boze started her junior year with nine career home runs and a .371 career batting average. As one of the top softball recruits in the area, Boze earned a softball scholarship to play at Missouri State University, where she’ll begin in the fall of 2018.

Boze had solid stats as a junior:

  • .480 batting avg
  • .515 on-base percentage
  • .927 slugging average
  • 14 home runs (most in the metro-east)
  • 54 RBIs ranked second
Her head coach, Natalie Peters, credits Boze's "coachability" for helping her get better each year, and she will return for her senior year as East’s single-season and career record-holder in home runs and RBIs.
