Just four days after going all the way to the Championship game at the All-Sanctioned World Series in Columbus OH, NY Inferno 16U Showcase Righetti went on to the Midwest PONY Nationals (Colt 16U) in Sterling VA, winning the title.
Damaris Tessa Sutherland started the weekend pitching against New Jersey Lady Patriots, (7-2 win) where, while pitching the first 2 innings, struck out 3 of 11 batters faced but surrendered two hits and two runs; pitcher Taylor Betz went on to take the win. On July 20th, Sutherland again took the mound to pitch a shut-out 14-0 against South Coast Scream/White (MA), throwing for four innings, 5 Ks, 12 FPS against 16 batters, with a pitch to strike ratio of 57:36 and allowing one hit. Citing soreness after the World Series consecutive games Sutherland pitched the weekend before, Inferno Showcase Coach Chuck Righetti moved Sutherland to 1st base play for the rest of the weekend.
On July 21st, Sutherland hit a home run in the fourth inning of a 2-2 game against East Coast Tsunami, bringing in two RBIs, and starting a rally that finished in a 13-2 win. Sutherland continued to contribute throughout play, both defensively and offensively, including in the semi-final game against New Jersey Intensity (2-0 win), where she had a double play at first base in the first inning brought in the first run on a sacrifice fly, and made it to first base on an error that bought in the second run for the final 2-0 win to take Inferno Showcase to the championship game. Mackenzie Suto had consecutive wins on the mound to take the final, beating the CT Bombers 2-1.
