The Crushers opened the Victory Preseason Tournament in Sacramento with a win on Foothill-Sacramento on Thursday behind the pitching of Rebecca Oesterich, who struck out seven and walked none.

Ashley Sills was 2-for-4 with an RBI and Alex Riddling doubled in the other two runs. Also coming through with hits were Lucinda Knudson, Bryanna Hewitt and Coley Beltran.

In the first of two games on Friday, Spanish Springs of Sparks, Nev., held the Crushers to three hits — a double by Riddling and singles by Sara McKnight and Lauren Salmon. Later in the day, Oesterich pitched a complete game and Knudson (2-for-3) drove in the winning run against Monterey Trail-Elk Grove. Sills was 3-for-4, Sarah McKnight 2-for-4, and Bry Hewitt, Sara Navarro, Kayreen Lopez, Dani Laughridge and Oesterich each had one hit.

The Crushers finished second in their pool and will wrap up tournament play at 12:30 and 5 p.m. today.
